LAPT8 Chile: Fabian Chauriye carries chip lead to final table

Day 3 is done at the Latin American Poker Tour Chile Main Event, with the 32 survivors of a 410-entry field having played down to just eight, and the Chilean Fabian Chauriye the one earning the distinction as chip leader heading into the final table.

When we last left off, nine were left and players were reassembling around a single table. Shortly after the redraw, Nacho Barbero three-bet all in from the blinds over a Justo Esquivel middle position open, and Esquivel called showing A♠Q♠ to Barbero's 9♠9♣. The nines held for Barbero, and play marched on.

About an orbit later Renata Teixeira reraise-pushed from the big blind over a late-position open and call from the SB, and the bet got through.

Not long after that Bruno Marino found himself vying for a pot with his neighbor Oscar Alache, with preflop action bringing them both to a flop of 9♠J♣Q♥. That's when Marino pushed in his last 340,000 Alache was there with the quick call.

It was K♦Q♠ and top pair for Marino, but Alache had that beat with A♣A♦. The turn was the 4♥ and river the 3♥, and Marino's run ended in ninth ($17,280).

Players arrived at 12 noon today, ready to go to work and it didn't take long before a half-dozen hit the rail as start-of-day chip leader Javier Venegas neared 1 million in chips.

The first full level of the day then saw 11 players knocked out as the pace quickened, among them end-of-day-1b leader Felipe Costa (25th) and Juan Cardoba (23rd), with Cardoba having won his way here starting with a $0.50 satellite.

Also among that rush of eliminations was Claudio Quezada, knocked out in 22nd by his son, Rodrigo, who'd go on to make tomorrow's final table.

During the next hour two more fell -- Ivan Luca (17th) and Pablo Reis (16th) -- then Claudio Schafer pushed out in front as four more hit the rail: Tyler Noyes (15th), Arturo Longton (14th), Jonathan Markovits (13th), and Juan Grinspun (12th).

Quezada (the younger) would then grab the lead briefly as Felipe Morbiducci went out in 11th. But Chauriye would push out ahead before a failed move by Schafer saw him slide to fall in 10th, setting up Marino's bubbling of the official final table.

Tomorrow's final table should prove exciting, with not one but two former LAPT champions -- Oscar Alache and two-time winner Nacho Barbero.

And Reneta Teixeira hopes to become the first woman to win an LAPT Main Event. She's the sixth woman to make a final table, with Jessica Bedoya having gotten the furthest of the group by finishing third at LAPT4 Colombia.

Success for Seraph14 of Slovakia with Sunday Million win

Sunday Million logo NEW.PNGLast week, in celebration of the new start times of the Sunday majors, the Sunday Million found itself with a hefty $2 million prize pool. It was a one-time bonus for players, and more than 10,000 of them came out to play for portions of that money.

This week, the new start time was firmly in place, and there was no special guarantee. Well, that is if you don't consider the weekly $1 million guarantee special. (If you don't, we'd like to say, "Huh?") But so many people were charged up about the $1 million and the new place on the Sunday schedule that the crowd of players was quite substantial. When registration was complete, the following numbers were given:

Players: 6,889
Prize pool: $1,377,800
Paid players: 990

Quite a large field and well beyond that guarantee. We'll say that's special.

After the initial hours passed, the money bubble came and went to ensure that everyone in that top 990 would receive a minimum of $316.89 for their efforts.

Only two Team PokerStars Pros made it into that group. Slovakian Dag Palovic left in the early stages of the payment process in 738th place, but moving forward was fellow pro and German representative Sebastian Ruthenberg. Ruthenberg held up for awhile but eventually exited in 283rd place.

Sebastian Ruthenberg.JPG

Played moved on to find out two tables remaining into the tenth hour, and hand-for-hand play was in action just 15 minutes into the next hour. But only five minutes later, it was Pessagno who risked it all from the big blind with K♦6♣, but jAKIELOL had K♠Q♦ in the small blind, and that hand stayed best through the 3♠8♠3♣5♦A♠ board. Pessagno was gone in tenth place with $7,715.68.

Patorojas86 pulls ahead to start action

Level 37 kicked off the final table with blinds at 125,000/250,000 and a 25,000 ante. Players' starting chip counts were:

Seat 1: jAKIELOL (5,193,973 in chips)
Seat 2: suckerfishtw (8,438,106 in chips)
Seat 3: AA1284 (6,227,707 in chips)
Seat 4: 321Gentleman (3,581,858 in chips)
Seat 5: patorojas86 (12,809,178 in chips)
Seat 6: mikexace (8,530,627 in chips)
Seat 7: Thorup1 (9,170,616 in chips)
Seat 8: SLUUUURP (5,098,959 in chips)
Seat 9: Seraph14 (9,838,976 in chips)

2011 Sunday Million table pic 06.12.11.JPG

Play started off relatively cautiously, though there were some players pushing the action.

And about 15 minutes into the table, it was time for the shortest stack to make a move. When mikexace opened for a raise, SLUUUURP reraised all-in with K♣Q♠. Mikexace called with 4♦4♥, and the fours held up to the A♣6♥T♠2♣9♣ board. That left SLUUUURP out in ninth place with $10,677.95.

Suckerfishtw and Seraph14 got into a raising war preflop, and suckerfishtw ultimately moved all-in with A♣Q♦. But Seraph14 called and turned over K♥K♣. The flop of Q♣6♦T♥ gave a pair of queens and hope to suckerfishtw, and the J♣ on the turn provided even more outs. But the 4♦ on the river left Seraph14's pair of kings the winner, and suckerfishtw swam off in eighth place with $16,533.60.

Mikexace makes moves

With that pot, Seraph14 climbed into the top spot on the leaderboard and began to battle for first position with mikexace. Patorojas86 was relegated to third and wasn't finding much momentum at the table. But after mikexace took a pot worth nearly 7.7 million chips from patorojas86, the latter was unable to recover.

Patorojas86 was in the big blind got involved with jAKIELOL preflop to see the T♣7♣T♥ from the dealer. When jAKIELOL bet, patorojas86 check-raised all-in with J♠9♠, and jAKIELOL called with A♠K♥. The 5♦ turn and K♠ river left jAKIELOL with the two pair and the pot, as patorojas86 left in a surprising seventh place with $30,311.60.

AA1284 had a rough time but managed a double through Thorup1 to stay alive. But only a few hands later, AA1284 looked down at K♦K♥ from the small blind and moved all-in. Original raiser mikexace called with A♣Q♠, and the flop of Q♦6♥A♦ gave him two pair. The J♣ on the turn didn't do much, but the Q♥ made a full house for mikexace. AA1284 was forced out in sixth place with $44,089.60.

Some double-ups were in order going forward, as 321Gentleman did it through Thorup1, and Thorup1 then did the same through jAKIELOL. But when jAKIELOL doubled through mikexace, jAKIELOL took the chip lead as well as the chips. It happened like this:

RSS readers click through to see replay

Then 321Gentleman doubled through mikexace, as did Thorup1. And suddenly, mikexace was the short stack of the group.

When jAKIELOL made a raise on the very next hand, mikexace reraised all-in with A♥8♦. JAKIELOL called with K♣T♠, which looked to be the losing hand through the 2♠5♦2♣7♠ on the board. But the K♦ on the river changed that and gave jAKIELOL two pair. Mikexace went from the chip lead to out in fifth place, which was worth $57,867.60.

Seraph14 doubled through Thorup1, and 321Gentleman did the same courtesy of jAKIELOL.

Final four agree to a deal

During the 11.5-hour break, the four remaining players decided to take a look at chip-chop numbers. The tournament was paused, and they quickly agreed. With $20,000 set aside to be added to the eventual winner's prize, the payouts would be as follows:

Seat 1: jAKIELOL (25,437,959 in chips) = $159,768.45
Seat 4: 321Gentleman (14,326,064 in chips) = $123,079.90
Seat 7: Thorup1 (14,423,327 in chips) = $123,401.03
Seat 9: Seraph14 (14,702,650 in chips) = $124,323.28

With good luck wishes all around, play resumed. And jAKIELOL was the clear aggressor, pushing into an even bigger lead over the other three players.

Thorup1 was anxious to make a move, the first time resulting in a split pot with jAKIELOL when both players held K-8. The second time, it was Seraph14 in the hand with A♠T♦, which dominated the A♥7♦ of Thorup1. The board of 4♥9♠9♥K♣T♣ did not change the outcome, and Thorup1 exited in fourth place with $123,401.03.

Seraph14 began to put the moves on and took a pot worth more than 18.6 million chips from jAKIELOL to take the lead. The two then battled on the very next hand with a preflop raising war that led to jAKIELOL moving all-in with 8♦6♦. Seraph14 made the call with a solid K♣K♠, which turned into a full house on the Q♦K♦6♠J♠J♣ board. That left jAKIELOL out in third place with $159,768.45.

Seraph14 takes strong lead into heads-up

The final two prepared to duel with these starting chip counts:

Seat 4: 321Gentleman (7,286,064 in chips)
Seat 9: Seraph14 (61,603,936 in chips)

There was no giving up for 321Gentleman, despite the chip deficit. The first double-up came for 321Gentleman with K-7 over Q-8, and the second was T-8 over 8-7. But Seraph14 maintained a sizeable lead.

The two then battled preflop to see the K♦T♦6♦. Seraph14 bet all-in, and 321Gentleman check-called all-in in the hopes of another double-up and showed A♦4♥ for the nut flush draw. Seraph14 showed A♠T♥ for the pair of tens, and with no flush on the 5♣ turn or 2♠ river, 321Gentleman had to leave in second place with $123,079.90.

Seraph14 of Slovakia claimed the Sunday Million victory and the $144,323.28 that went with it. Congrats!

Sunday Million Results for 06/12/11 (reflecting deal):

APPT Seoul Day 2: Back to the action

Tables are set.

Players are now wandering in to the poker room here in Seoul for Day 2 of the APPT Season 9.

They'll take their seats at 12pm local time as we edge closer to another big score and an APPT Main Event title. Runners will have to make the top 27 places to receive a payout, with first prize coming it at KRW165,590,200 ($151,384).

After two Day 1 flights, we saw 241 hopefuls cut down to just 91. Those lucky enough to survive will play through 12 levels today before a champion is crowned tomorrow.

Those in contention will be chasing Japan's Takahiro Nakai, the chip leader who bagged up 186,700 in chips at the conclusion of play last night. He starts today well ahead of the pack with the player in second place, Hajime Iwakura, holding 153,900.

Current chip leader Takahiro Nakai

Three PokerStars Team Pros are still among the pack. Singapore's Bryan Huang leads the way for their contingent with 79,900 in chips. Aditya Agarwal will start Day 2 with 34,500 and just behind him is Celina Lin on 33,400.

Another one to watch is online heads up phenom Dong Kim. Known for grinding his way up stakes to the top tier online, Kim is yet to make a big tournament score but with 82,700 in chips he'll be looking to change that here in Seoul.

APPTSeoul2015_MainEvent_Day1B_059.jpg

Dong Kim at the table yesterday

Other notables still at the tables include the two previous winners of the APPT Seoul Main Event. APPT7 champion Aaron Lim begins the day with 62,200 in chips, and last year's winner Chane Kampanatsanyakorn scraped through to Day 2 with 17,100.

World Series of Poker bracelet winner and poker room operator here at the Paradise Walkerhill Casino Kevin Song just announced over the microphone that it's time to shuffle up and deal. Blinds will start at 600/1200 with a 100 chip ante and we're preparing for a long day of poker as the field is reduced even more over the next 12 hours of play.

Cards are now in the air and players back in the action. We'll be following everything here for the APPT9 Seoul Main Event, and see who can survive until the final day tomorrow. Stay with us!

The final table for IPT Malta is set with PokerStars player Jaroslaw Sikora leading with 7.6 million in chips. The Polish player finished 70th for €4,220 in the Eureka High Roller event in Prague in December. Sikora moved clearly into the lead after winning a big three-bet pot towards the end of play when he picked off a 555,000 bluff from Georgios Zisimopoulos.

Missouri Congressmen Push for Regulated Online Gambling

Two US Representatives from Missouri are joining the fight to bring regulation to online gambling at the federal level.

Missouri's Congressional delegation is officially behind efforts to regulate online gambling on the federal level, after the state legislature passed an appeal to Congress to end the sports betting ban. Representatives William Lacy Clay and Russ Carnahan both have signed up to co-sponsor Barney Frank's bill outlining licensing and regulation for Internet gaming operators.

The lawmakers criticized the UIGEA ban, saying it is disingenuous of the law's supporters to claim the prohibition will end  US residents' patronizing online casinos. The UIGEA was compared to an ostrich-like head-in-the-sand method of dealing with the new reality of Internet gambling.

The Congressmen also were part of the group of federal lawmakers who successfully appealede to the Treasury to withhold implementation of the UIGEA until Comngress has a chance to address the situation.

"We should not be so naive to think that we are going to do away with gambling by passing that (UIGEA) law," Clay said.

"It's (online gambling) the kind of thing that requires clear rules and regulations so that it functions well," Carnahan added.

John Pappas of the Poker Players Alliance agreed, saying, "People are playing online by the millions. Whether you like it or not, the genie is out of the bottle."

The legislators also want the US to take advantage of the huge prospects to create revenue by regulating online gambling.

"I think $42 billion is a significant sum that the federal government needs to fund some of the programs that are worthy and that Americans benefit from," stated Clay, citing figures estimated by a PriceWaterhouse study to be the potential for a decade's taxation of Internet gambling.

Pack Scarves And Gloves, Then Head To Club USA Casino

What adorable entertainment offered inside Club USA Casino! Penguin Power is a 5 reel bonus slot that is played in the arctic, but served up tons of warmth. Without the burning luck from this game, I would have been left in the cold.

The wager limits are between $0.01 and $5.00. This is a 20 line slot, therefore the max wagers are between$0.20 and $100.00 per spin. These amounts are conservative for even the most modest players. Playing max bet will increase a players payout in both normal play and bonus rounds.

In this frozen tundra, fish, seals, eggs waiting to be hatch and motherly penguins looking over their young slid through the reels. As the baby penguins slide through the snow the serve up as the wilds. They only appear in reel 2,3, & 4 and substitute for all other symbols except the igloos.

The igloos are the scatters. If a player receives 3 or more igloos between 5 and 25 free spins are awarded. During the free spin feature, extra igloos and baby penguins are added to the reels. If a baby penguin and an igloo land on the same horizontal level, the baby penguin will slide to the igloo to reveal extra prizes. Some of the prizes may between 5 and 100 time the triggering bet. Other prizes can be between 2 and 10 extra free spins. Free Spins are played at the lines and bet of the triggering game. This feature can not be triggered.

In addition, this game offers a progressive random jackpot. The jackpot is triggered at random and is added to other wins. I enjoyed my play inside Club USA Casino’s icy wonderland. Next time I may have to pack more appropriately, maybe some gloves or a scarf. Enjoy.
