APPT Seoul Day 2: Back to the action

Tables are set.

Players are now wandering in to the poker room here in Seoul for Day 2 of the APPT Season 9.

They'll take their seats at 12pm local time as we edge closer to another big score and an APPT Main Event title. Runners will have to make the top 27 places to receive a payout, with first prize coming it at KRW165,590,200 ($151,384).

After two Day 1 flights, we saw 241 hopefuls cut down to just 91. Those lucky enough to survive will play through 12 levels today before a champion is crowned tomorrow.

Those in contention will be chasing Japan's Takahiro Nakai, the chip leader who bagged up 186,700 in chips at the conclusion of play last night. He starts today well ahead of the pack with the player in second place, Hajime Iwakura, holding 153,900.

Three PokerStars Team Pros are still among the pack. Singapore's Bryan Huang leads the way for their contingent with 79,900 in chips. Aditya Agarwal will start Day 2 with 34,500 and just behind him is Celina Lin on 33,400.

Another one to watch is online heads up phenom Dong Kim. Known for grinding his way up stakes to the top tier online, Kim is yet to make a big tournament score but with 82,700 in chips he'll be looking to change that here in Seoul.

Other notables still at the tables include the two previous winners of the APPT Seoul Main Event. APPT7 champion Aaron Lim begins the day with 62,200 in chips, and last year's winner Chane Kampanatsanyakorn scraped through to Day 2 with 17,100.

World Series of Poker bracelet winner and poker room operator here at the Paradise Walkerhill Casino Kevin Song just announced over the microphone that it's time to shuffle up and deal. Blinds will start at 600/1200 with a 100 chip ante and we're preparing for a long day of poker as the field is reduced even more over the next 12 hours of play.

Cards are now in the air and players back in the action. We'll be following everything here for the APPT9 Seoul Main Event, and see who can survive until the final day tomorrow. Stay with us!
