Massimo Pellegrino wins first major title at IPT6 Saint Vincent

The picturesque town of Saint Vincent, in the Aosta Valley region of northern Italy, is used to large influxes of visitors. Historically it was for the natural springs in town that drew the most, which are thought to have various healing properties. But more recently that population surge has been for poker.

Specifically the PokerStars Italian Poker Tour, the latest event crowning a new champion this week in Massimo Pellegrino, who earned €65,000 and a first ITP title. That's a pretty good cure for most minor ailments.

Pellegrino topped a field of some 363 players which, with a buy in of €1,100 combined for a prize pool of €352,110. It marks a career best performance by Pellegrino, from Campobasso in central Italy, who defeated Gianni Bussolino heads-up. For his part Bussolino also earned a career best €48,000 for the runner-up spot.
