Last week, in a search for cheap FantasyDraft value plays, we stumbled into three very solid plays in Jay Cutler, Jeremy Langford and Brandon Lafell. Heath Miller was put on the backburner as Antonio Brown played about the best game I’ve ever seen someone play in the NFL. If we can continue to hit at that rate with our cheap value plays, we’re going to do okay in DFS.

So I’m going back to the well on FantasyDraft, looking for players priced outside of the top ten at their position to use in this weekend’s $150,000 Run & Gun tournament.

QB

Blake Bortles ($11,100) – Sometimes, in DFS, it all makes so much sense that you start to ask yourself, what’s the catch? In terms of yards-touchdowns-interceptions to opposing quarterbacks, the Ravens last four weeks have looked like this: 301-3-0 to Philip Rivers, 275-2-0 to Carson Palmer, 340-2-0 to a guy who just got benched in favor of Blaine Gabbert!!!, and 457-2-0 to Josh McCown. Good matchup? I think so. Bortles, on the other hand, has gone 381-2-2 in a brutal spot against the Jets, threw for two touchdowns against the Bills, had 331-3-3 against Houston, and lit up the Bucs for 304-4-1 in week 7. So what we have here is a hot quarterback who is priced as the thirteenth most expensive on the slate, is sixth in per game quarterback scoring, and is facing a defense that is extremely generous to quarterbacks. All of that screams value.

James Starks ($9,200) – This year, I’ve mostly avoided the Green Bay running backs. The one week I dove in, it was absolutely dreadful as Eddie Lacy barely played in a cupcake matchup against San Diego. Well, it appears that game was the start of a changing of the guard in the Green Bay backfield. James Starks saw over 70 percent of the snaps last week and appears to be taking over as the lead back according to coach Mike McCarthy. While there is more risk here than there is with a player like Darren McFadden for the same price, if Starks sees 70 percent of the snaps again this week, we’ve got an absolute steal on our hands.

Brandon Lafell ($8,100) – Last week’s $6,400 price tag on Lafell basically left him in must play territory on FantasyDraft. This week’s $8,100 price tag takes him from must play to merely ‘you really should play Brandon Lafell on FantasyDraft this week’ territory. Lafell still has all of the great things going for him that he did last week, with just another week of affirmation so we can feel even more confident using him in DFS. A player seeing 75 percent of the snaps and averaging eight targets per week while playing for the offense projected to score the most points in week 10 is not supposed to cost $8,100 on FantasyDraft. That price will right itself in the coming weeks, so we should be taking advantage of it now.

Zach Ertz ($6,000) – Pro Football Focus’ Mike Clay is one of the brightest minds in the business when it comes to football analysis. He’s been banging the Zach Ertz drum so hard I’m pretty sure there’s a hole in it by now. And he’s been banging that drum for good reason. Ertz has played 86, 90 and 81 percent of the snaps in the last three Eagles games and he’s seen 7, 8 and 6 targets in those. Ertz is also due for some positive regression in the touchdown department. At some point, it’s going to come together for Ertz in a big way. Let’s hope this is the week.
