America's Poker Tour Announces First Event | PokerNews
America's Poker Tour is the latest entrant within the rapidly growing landscape of tournament poker series within the United States.
In a press release, America's Poker Tour officials said the primary event at the new tour might be held Sept. 22 to Oct. 2, with the $1,100 Main Event spanning Sept. 29 to Oct. 2. It's going to happen at Majestic Star Casino in Gary, Ind., just outside of Chicago. Preceding the primary Event might be plenty of smaller events, in line with the schedule, including a slew of satellites starting at $90.
America's Poker Tour was created by Fred Bevill and Derek Melicher, both formerly of the Heartland Poker Tour. They've billed it because the lowest buy-in that provides the chance to look on a televised final table.
"This isn't your “normal” poker show," the click release reads. "THE TIMES of simply showing hand after hand until a winner is decided are behind us. The fun, excitement, and characters that emerge from each event are showcased!"
In an email to PokerNews, Melicher said the plan is for the published to seem locally in Chicago on Comcast and nationally on Poker Central, among other stations. Melicher added that this will be the one event for the tour this year, serving as something of a test run for 2017 with a planned slate of 10 events.
