The World Series of Poker has taken on a lifetime of its own during the last decade in Las Vegas, Nevada. The largest event in poker each year, the primary event has drawn players from upwards of fifty nations, all with their eyes on becoming a multimillionaire and a household name.
This year'e event could be no different as players and fans have started preparing for the tournament that begins tomorrow. Excitement is high in Sin City, with everyone having their eyes at the events so one can unfold over the following two weeks.
"I've pop out here for the past five years on Fourth of July weekend," says Gary Trayver. "IT'S already an important trip each year, being that this can be a holiday weekend, but watching the beginning of the primary event makes it that significantly better. There may be such a lot pageantry, belongings you don't usually see on the hometown casinos."
One of probably the most anticipated events of the beginning of the principle event is the arriving of professional poker legend Phil Hellmuth. Each year, Hellmuth makes a grand entrance to take his seat frequently event. Annually brings a distinct arrival from Hellmuth. In a single instance, Hellmuth showed up dressed as Julius Caesar. What he's going to do that year is anybody's guess.
Once the joy turns to reality, over 5,000 players are expected to take a look at their skills generally event. With a $10,000 buy-in, and a guaranteed first place prize of over $5 million, players might be in serious mode the minute they step to the tables.
As have been the case over the last few years, the primary event, which starts Saturday, will run until the general table is reached. At that time, play can be suspended for several months, and the general nine players will hone their skills in preparation for the overall round of play.
The biggest names within the sport are always within the field. Fans can expect to peer Antonio Esfandiari, Hellmuth, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey, Mike Matusow, and dozens of alternative superstar stars starting tomorrow. Outside of Hellmuth, many of the legendary players can be on the lookout for their first main event crown.
From Saturday through Monday, players will compete in three starting days. Tuesday and Wednesday will bring day two action, and days three through seven will run until July 15th.
