Sunday Million: leonid6691 nabs first major title, $221k

For leonid6691, $215 is not only a large buy-in, it is a pretty decent prize within the small stakes MTTs and SNGs he usually plays. For a player used to wagering the cost of a takeaway lunch in one go, banking over 1,000 times that $215 buy-in should be utterly unfathomable. Tonight, Russia's leonid6691 did just that. Standing in his way were a few final table veterans. LuckyDave83 scored $145k for his runner-up finish within the Million back in 2012, while Michael "SilentPurple" MacHugh finished third in last spring's SCOOP Event #27-H ($1,050+R PL 5-Card Omaha H/L 6-Max Turbo), right behind online legends Shawn "buck21" Buchanan and our own Team Pro Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier. However, SilentPurple and LuckyDave83 went out in fourth and sixth places respectively, opening the door for leonid6691 to capture his first major online title and over $221k.

The Billionth Tournament Carnival undoubtedly contributed to today's robust crowd of 7,389 players. 1,080 of them earned a share of the $1,477,800.00 prize pool with the winner set to earn $221,674.92. While quite a few Red Spades joined the field, Team Online's Marc-Andre "FrenchDawg" Ladoceur lasted the longest, going out in 94th place when his A♥3♥ was outflopped by K♥Q♥.

Final table chip counts

Seat 1: leonid6691 (3,473,952 in chips) Seat 2: SilentPurple (14,882,870 in chips) Seat 3: LuckyDave83 (8,131,953 in chips) Seat 4: Lubczyk88 (7,849,227 in chips) Seat 5: Solidthought (7,099,105 in chips) Seat 6: BOLDONEALLAN (7,460,248 in chips) Seat 7: JhonyFonseca (12,095,000 in chips) Seat 8: Epkathy0901 (3,827,224 in chips) Seat 9: joquannez (9,070,421 in chips)

The final table lost its first player to be had #2 when Epkathy0901's K♠Q♠ didn't improve vs. joquannez's pocket jacks. Then, with the blinds as much as 200,000/400,000, Solidthought bet all but 453,550 of his remaining chips preflop and JhonyFonseca looked him up. JhonyFonseca set Solidthought all-in at the Q♥T♣2♣ flop and Solidthought called, his A♥6♥ trailing JhonyFonseca's A♠9♥. Solidthought didn't catch a six and went out in eighth place.

BOLDONEALLAN picked up speed when he doubled through joquannez, his pocket queens holding up against A♦K♦. BOLDONEALLAN moved as much as second in chips with 17 million, right behind SilentPurple's 17.7 million. Leonid6691 also got a lift when his A♦K♦ rivered top pair vs. JhonyFonseca's A♠Q♠, putting him on 15.5 million in chips. Joquannez soon succumbed to SilentPurple in seventh place, his A♦6♥ dominated by A♣9♣.

Two hands later, LuckyDave83 three-bet shoved for 3.04 million from the small blind and UTG min-raiser BOLDONEALLAN called. Although LuckyDave83 was in great shape with A♥Q♠ vs. 7♣8♥, BOLDONEALLAN hit bottom two pair at the 9♣8♦7♠ flop. LuckyDave83 didn't recover and needed to accept sixth place. Then at the very next deal, JhonyFonseca made the similar move, three-bet shoving pre flop with A♣8♣. Button raiser Lubczyk88 called with K♠J♠ and hit a jack at the flop, ending JhonyFonseca's run in fifth.

Soon thereafter, leonid6691 won a 19.6 million pot with no showdown, setting himself up nicely for the overall four. SilentPurple, BOLDONEALLAN and leonid6691 all saw a T♥5♥3♦ flop for 1 million each. BOLDONEALLAN checked to leonid6691, who bet another 1,000,000. SilentPurple raised to twenty-eight. million, BOLDONEALLAN called and leonid6691 called to boot. The turn came the 8♣ and BOLDONEALLAN checked again. Leonid6691 made it 4,000,000 to go, folding out SilentPurple. BOLDONEALLAN called they usually went heads-up to the river, which fell the A♥. BOLDONEALLAN check-folded to leonid6691's 7.5 million bet and he rocketed to the highest of the chip counts with 34.1 million.

Four-handed play continued for an additional seven minutes before a double elimination sent us to heads-up play. Holding pocket jacks, Lubczyk88 min-raised to twelve. million from the cutoff, leonid6691 three-bet to a few million from the small blind, and SilentPurple shoved for 6.07 million from the large. Lubczyk88 reshoved for 15.4 million and leonid6691 called all-in.

In a cruel twist, both leonid6691 and Lubczyk88 hit sets when the flop came down Q♣J♣9♠. SilentPurple still had a glimmer of hope with a gutshot straight draw, however the 8♥ turn and A♦ river weren't what he was in search of. SilentPurple went out in fourth place, good for $78,323.40 while Lubczyk88 took home $118,224.00 for third.

Leonid6691 already had the good thing about a 2.5 to one chip lead getting into to heads-up play, but created much more separation within the first pot they played. After BOLDONEALLAN three-bet to 4.2 million from the large blind, they saw a A♦K♠9♠ flop. Leonid6691 called BOLDONEALLAN's 4.2 million continuation bet and saw the Q♣ it the turn. This time, BOLDONEALLAN checked and leonid6691 made it another 4.2 million to move. BOLDONEALLAN gave up his hand and leonid6691 raked in another huge pot with no showdown.

A few hands later, leonid6691's 4♥8♣ turned a whole house, good for one more 4.9 million. BOLDONEALLAN was left with only ten big blinds and two hands later he moved in from the button with K♥J♣. Leonid6691 called, his Q♥J♠ dominated. The A♠A♥2♥ flop was no help to leonid6691 however the Q♣ at the turn was his gin card. BOLDONEALLAN needed a river king to survive, however the 5♦ peeled off instead, giving leonid6691 his first major online title.

Congratulations to Russia's leonid6691 on his Sunday Million win! He banked $221,674.92 while runner-up BOLDONEALLAN earned $163,104.78.
