APPT8 Auckland Day 2: The numbers game

Eighty. Twenty-four. Nine. One.

Those are the landmark numbers sooner than us on the APPT Auckland Main Event, and as we commence Day 2 of play, we will be able to already tick the primary number off the list.

Eighty - that's what number of players are returning to the SKYCITY Auckland Casino today to continue their journey towards fame and fortune. They've already done well to outlive the primary day of play, however the pressure will only intensify because the tournament continues.

Twenty-four - it is a carton of Steinlager and it is also the collection of players who will leave Auckland with a profit this week. A min-cash is worth NZ$4,550 that is a pleasing chunk of change. There'll be some nervous moments because the bubble approaches but we probably won't hit that time until later within the day. Stay tuned for that one!

Nine - only nine will make it onto the official APPT final table to succeed in a guaranteed five-figure pay day. The purpose was to achieve that time today, but APPT President Danny McDonagh has already announced that we will only be playing ten levels today and predicted we'll get to the general thirteen players so that it will be just in need of the overall table. So that they can leave another longer day for us tomorrow.

One - there can only be one champion and they'll put off the APPT Auckland title, the trophy and NZ$132,000 in cold, hard cash!

There are a lot of other stories that we are going to be keeping track of in the course of the day.

Can the Kiwis continue their dominance with locals Mehrdad Razmi, Ben Rendall and Terangi Matenga starting the day with the most important stacks within the room?

With both Edison Nguyen and Sal Fazzino eliminated on day one, can probably the most other contenders stand up to assert the 2014 ANZ Player of the Year?

Can defending champion David Lim go back-to-back? Will the father-son combination of Luke and Robert Spano make a deep run together? Or can Brotha D make history because the first two time APPT winner?

It must be a captivating day prior to us, so we are hoping you'll stick around to peer what unfolds. We'll be covering those stories and more here at the PokerStars Blog while the nice folk at PokerNews bring the hand action to you within the live reporting feed.
