With six levels done and dusted here on Day 1A of the principle event the players was sent on a 75 minute sojourn to rest their aching bones. Late registration is, of course, still open and can remain so until the beginning of Day 2. Because the seconds ticked down at the last level before the dinner break 269 bums on seats remained from the 338 who'd chosen the outlet starting flight as their preferred option for a shot at an EPT title.
Of those 338 players 19 had won a seat in a live satellite last night here in Prague whilst an extra 133 had qualified online and opted for Day 1A. One such online qualifier is Maxim Panyak, with 117,000 he's top of the pile at the moment and has 195 big blinds to play with. The Russian player has had some sizeable scores at the EPT tour previously. His ninth place finish within the €10,000 High Roller at EPT100 Barcelona is his best lead to terms of bucks earned, but a second place finish here in Prague in a €1,000 side event during Season 7 is the nearest he's come to an EPT title.
He's one in all only two players to have breached the six-figure mark with Bulent Demirtas the opposite man within the six-figure club. The German has the enviable record of getting final tabled everytime he's cashed in a live tournament and he'll be hoping that trend continues here in Prague so he can add to the 2 cashes he's netted at the UKIPT and his one cash at the Eureka tour.
With the common stack currently a shade under 37,500 there are many other players who've accumulated big chips whilst the blinds are small. EPT10 champion Oleksii Khoroshenin is considered one of those, he's increased his 30,000 starting stack to 93,000 whilst Petr Jelinek, who's 28th at the all-time Czech money list, is leading the Czech charge with 84,000.
Team PokerStars Pro and Online are well represented within the upper echelons of the chip counts as: Johnny Lodden (66,000), George Danzer (58,000) Ike Haxton (55,000) and ElkY (48,000) have all chipped up nicely. Whilst Mickey Petersen (15,400) and Chris Moneymaker (9,300) have work to do.
But, no less than they still have chips which cannot be said for Martin Hruby who's one of the most big names to have hit the rail today. He's in sound company as Joni Jouhkimainen, Fabrice Soulier, Dmitry Yurasov, Mikalai Pobal, David Peters, Ivan Soshnikov, Chris Brammer, Pierre Neuville, Martin Kabrhel, David Yan, Adrian Mateos, Dominik Panka, Marvin Rettenmaier and Kimmo Kurko are all out too.
