Sunday Briefing: Finland's “jnevanli” Wins $182K in 888poker XL Series Main Event

It is a sum that most poker players can only dream of, but on Sunday, Switzerland’s Dinesh “NastyMinder” Alt won a staggering $396,691.43 by taking down the 2016 Turbo Championship Of Online Poker (TCOOP) Main Event at PokerStars. You can read about that by clicking here.

Everyone at the TCOOP Main Event final table locked up at least $21,689.64, with fifth place and deeper securing a six-figure score. There was $425,661.91 up top for the eventual winner, but Alt and Sweden’s “KungKroon” struck a deal that saw the latter bank $346,181.46 before falling in second place to his talented Swiss opponent.

With the TCOOP drawing to a close on Sunday, many players seized the opportunity to book huge wins as January ended. Grayson “gray31” Ramage was one such player; he won the $2,100 buy-in TCOOP High Roller for $213,867.23 after a four-way chop. Ramage’s fellow big winners were Romania’s Alex “steakaddict.” Papazian ($213,052.03), Mark “RenRad 01” Darner ($180,925.29), and Brazilian pro “GM_VALTER” ($167,370.45).

Over at 888poker, the Super XL Series came to a thrilling conclusion with the running of some of its biggest ever events. One such tournament, the $1,050 buy-in Main Event smashed its $1,000,000 guarantee by $180,000!

The Main Event ended in a heads-up chop with runner-up “carmen.1957” collecting $168,532.90 and the eventual champion, Finland’s “jnevanli” walking away with $182,635.10. A special mention has to go to Netherlands’ “Graftekkel” who busted in third place for $112,100.

Argentina’s “CHELitw” was another 888poker player on the winner’s podium this Sunday, winning the $150,000 Mega Deep for $32,760 while “Kannwas” of Germany added $40,865.35 to their lifetime winnings by claiming the title of Super XL Mini Main Event champion; they outlasted 1,612 opponents to do that, which is a superb achievement.

Lastly, for 888poker, the victory in the $115,000 Sunday Challenge by “Diegoavc” was worth a cool $20,855.88, not bad at all from a $90 buy-in tournament.

Rounding up the Sunday Briefing this week are the exploits of players at partypoker. “fisHalal” won $27,780.00 after booking a win in the $150,000 High Roller event. A massive shout out has to go to the aforementioned “carmen.1957” who finished in third place for $13,950.00 not long after their huge score at 888poker – what a Sunday!

This week’s $150,000 guaranteed Main Event saw 1,494 players head to partypoker’s virtual felt and they were all outlasted by “Bushido_Styles” who received $27,060.00 for their first place finish. However, the biggest partypoker score this Sunday went to “majocdc” courtesy of finishing on top in the $100,000 guaranteed Cobra tournament, which smashed it’s guarantee by some $70,232. Majocdc added $29,400.20 to their bankroll, busting 15 players on the way to securing the victory.
