A total of 433 entries were made within the 2016 Card Player Poker Tour Bicycle Hotel & Casino $1,100 buy-in no-limit hold’em main event, easily surpassing the $400,000 guarantee to construct a last prize pool of $495,670. From that sea of poker players just one champion would emerge and that was Edwin Pairavi. The l. a. resident earned $120,685 and the CPPT trophy for the win. He now has greater than $310,000 in lifetime live-tournament earnings, primarily from events within the L.A. area.
In addition to the hardware and the money Pairavi was also awarded 720 Card Player Player of the Year points. This was his first POY-qualified score of the year.
Pairavi, who requested to not be photographed, told Bicycle Hotel & Casino bloggers that at one point on day 2 he was right down to just 7,000 in tournament chips with the blinds at 2,500-5,000 with an ante of 500. He moved all in blind and, incredibly, was dealt pocket aces, which held up and got him back within the game.
