It could also be just a month ago that partypoker announced it was running a £550 buy in tournament featuring a £5 million guaranteed prize pool, but now the goalposts has been moved.
Fret not, partypoker isn’t going back on its ambitious guarantees (the winner walked away with a minimum of £1 million within the £5 million guaranteed prize pool). In fact, it's making the guarantee even larger; 1,000,000 pounds larger! That’s correct, the partypoker MILLIONS tournament now boasts a major £6 million guaranteed prize pool.
Tournament Director of the MILLIONS Simon Trumper explained the reasoning behind the guarantee increase just a month into the qualifying campaign.
“With a £550 Day 1 buy in and a £5,300 Day 2 buy-in, the payout need to be attractive to both player bankrolls. Rob Yong asked me to determine some way that shall we pay all players who make Day 4 but keep first prize at £1,000,000," he said. "Increasing the guarantee to £6,000,000 allows this, plus makes the development more player friendly for our international partners who intend to run Days 1-3 at their venues.”
partypoker players can win a share of a minimum of £6 million from as low as £0.01 way to the satellites at the site. Online Day 1s run every Tuesday night and the primary 100 players progressing to Day 2 receive their £550 buy-in back courtesy of partypoker.
