Tribal online poker service launches in California this week

California-PokeriGaming Business – The Santa Ysabel Tribal Development Corporation has announced that it'll launch its real-money online poker service within the US state of California next week, in step with various reports.

Dave Vialpando, chairman of the commission, said that the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel can be “flipping the activate for real-money sometime between [August] 26 and 28”.

The real-money service may be open to players over the age of 18 which can be located within California’s borders.

The launch will come despite online poker legislation having stalled within the state.

Earlier this month, iGaming Business reported that a bill to legalise online gaming in California have been withdrawn by state Senator Lou Correa, ending any hopes of securing approval this year.

However, Vialpando stressed that the Iipay Nation of Santa Ysabel is legally justified to provide online poker within the state.

“Our authority to provide class II gaming from our reservation isn't prohibited by any statute,” Vialpando told the Cardplayer.com website.
