The World Poker Tour California Swing series includes the L.A. Poker Classic, Bay 101 Shooting Star, and Rolling Thunder main events, which take place within a few weeks of one another. The WPT has tied the three events together via the "California Swing" and awards one player who best performs across these events with a prize.
This year's California Swing champion proved to be Ankush Mandavia, who booked a 23rd-place finish in Bay 101 Shooting Star from a record field of 753 entries to earn $30,310 and an eighth-place finish from a field of 409 in Rolling Thunder for $36,646.
For becoming the California Swing champion, Mandavia has earned perks and comps that he can use on next year's California Swing. First he'll receive up to six nights of complimentary accommodations, complimentary airport transfer, and one complimentary massage at the Meridian Spa during the 2017 WPT L.A. Poker Classic. Second, Mandavia will be a Shooting Star at the 2017 WPT Bay 101. Lastly, he scored up to five free nights of accommodations in a suite, plus a $500 room credit, during the 2017 WPT Rolling Thunder.
