National Center for Responsible Gaming appoints Dr. Russell Sanna executive director

The National Center for Responsible Gaming (NCRG)  announced the appointment of Dr. Russell Sanna as its executive director; his appointment will take effect March 1, 2016.

Dr. Sanna was most recently at Harvard Medical School’s Division of Sleep Medicine, where he served as executive director. “We are delighted to have Russell Sanna join the NCRG in this important leadership role,” said Alan Feldman, chairman of the NCRG. “He is a highly dedicated and successful administrator who has spent his career working in public health education with leading academic researchers,” Feldman said.

Prior to the Division of Sleep Medicine, Dr. Sanna served as an associate dean at the Harvard Design School. At Harvard, Dr. Sanna upheld the highest  standards of research administration, and executed successful fundraising campaigns that engaged diverse groups of stakeholders. These campaigns resulted in the increased awareness of significant public health issues.

“Dr. Sanna’s creative approach to fundraising and stakeholder engagement will aid in our organization’s ability to fund innovative research that develops new approaches for addressing gambling disorder. As we enter our 20th year, we are confident he will lead the NCRG to the next level,” Feldman said.

“It is a tremendous honor to become part of this vital cause focused on the health and well-being of those affected by gambling disorder. I look forward to working with the incredible team at NCRG to advance treatment strategies and public education about responsible gaming,” said Russell Sanna following his acceptance of the position.

Dr. Sanna will be joining an accomplished team including Christine Reilly, Nathan Smith and Sam Newcomer whose outstanding work has made the NCRG the most respected source of high quality scientific research on gambling disorder and responsible gaming in the world.
