Power forward Kevin Love will return after a one-game absence and the Cleveland Cavaliers look for their sixth victory in seven games when they visit the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. Love sat out Thursday's victory over the Los Angeles Lakers due to pain in both knees and he's looking to rebound from an 11-for-42 shooting slump over his last four outings.
Love's shaky play has contributed to the Cavaliers being unable to perform at the level that forward LeBron James is seeking. Cleveland's recent surge has been fueled by point guard Kyrie Irving, who is averaging 24.9 points over the last seven games after scoring 26 during Thursday's 120-108 win over the Lakers. The Clippers have won five of their past seven games as they make a run at catching the third-place Oklahoma City Thunder in the Western Conference playoff race. The contest with the Cavaliers is followed by a five-game road trip that begins in San Antonio and concludes by visiting the Golden State Warriors.

COVERS POWER RANKINGS: Cavaliers (-8.9) - Clippers (-8.8) + home court (-3) = Clippers -2.9
WHAT SHARPS SAY: "Cleveland will be playing an early daytime game on the West Coast after daylight savings time. The Cavaliers have been in California since Wednesday, and they’ve had two days off prior to this game, but this is still a tricky scheduling spot. Los Angeles has alternated wins and losses over their last four games; they won at home in their last game. The Clippers’ defense has allowed 98 points or less in four of their last five home games." - Covers Expert Steve Merril

Steph Curry celebrates his birthday with a win & COVER...
My free play is on the GS Warriors at 10:35 ET.
It’s Steph Curry’s (30.5-5.3-6.5) 28th birthday and with yet another home win (Golden St is 30-0 at home this year and has won 48 straight going back to last season) the 59-6 Warriors can become the fastest team to reach 60 wins by besting the Pelicans. Thompson (22.0) joins Curry in the “Splash Brothers” backcourt, while the do-everything Green (13.7-9.6-7.4) tops the best supporting cast in the NBA. The Warriors lead the NBA in scoring (115.5 PPG) on 48.7 percent shooting (48.7%), including 41.3 percent on threes (1st). Golden St also owns the fifth-best defensive FG percentage (43.6%).
The Warriors host the Pelicans, who have lost EIGHT in a row at Oakland, including two games in last year's playoffs. New Orleans was 45-37 last year (earning the No. 8 seed in the West) but at 24-41 (on pace to win just 30 games!) won't be returning to the postseason this year thanks to an injury-plagued campaign. Guard Gordon (15.2) and swingman Evans (15.2-4.4-5.2) have already been lost for the season, although Alvin Gentry (former Golden St assistant) is hoping to get a boost Monday if Norris Cole (10.6-3.4-3.7) returns from a three-game absence due to a back injury. Anthony Davis (24.4-10.3) has terrific numbers plus SF Anderson (16.6-6.0) and PG Holiday (16.3-6.0 APG) are huge producers off the bench but the Pelicans have just never been able to get their act together this season.
New Orleans has dropped SEVEN of its last eight games overall and is currently 0-3 SU and ATS to begin a five-game road trip after falling 103-92 at Milwaukee on Saturday. Yes, the Warriors are on pace to win 74 or 75 games but they are still only 3 1/2 games ahead of San Antonio for the West’s best record an still have THREE games remaining with the Spurs. No let up here, as Steph celebrates his birthday with a win & COVER!
Good luck...Larry
