On Saturday, March 5, Kostritsyn finished atop the daily leaderboard after winning $192,300 over 735 hands at the $1,000/$2,000 8-game tables against the likes of Blom, Gorodinsky, and Rafi "rafaelamit" Amit.
Speaking of Blom, he actually won the biggest pot of the day. It happened during heads-up play between Blom ($34,795.14) and Kostritsyn ($38,694.02) when the latter opened for $1,500 and the latter called to see a flop.
Kostritsyn proceeded to check-call a bet of $2,000 and then check-called one of $5,500 on the turn. When the completed the board on the river, Kostritsyn checked for a third time but still called when Blom moved all in for $25,795.14. Blom tabled the for top set, and it was good enough to win the $69,590.28 pot as Kostritsyn simply mucked his cards.
Blom Returns To His Winning Ways with $130,800 Thursday Win
According to HighStakesDB, Blom had his first six-figure score in over a month after he won $130,800 playing $400/$800 8-game on Thursday afternoon. Blom only sat at one table, but he played for 831 hands over eight hours against tough competition including Amit, Kuznetsov, and Mikael "ChaoRen160" Thuritz, just to name a few.
Blom got off to a strong start and played the entire match in profit. In the biggest pot of the day, which took place five-handed in a round of $100/$200 PLO, Cates ($20,371.68) opened for $700 under the gun and "calvin7v" ($14,567.50) called from the button. Blom ($36,966.50) then three-bet to $30,000 from the small blind, both the other players called, and the flop came down .
Blom checked, Cates bet $3,800, and "calvin7v" called. Blom then check-raised to $24,395 and Cates called off his remaining $13,571.68 before "calvin7v" did the same for $7,767.50.

Both "calvin7v" and Cates flopped flush draws — the latter's being the best — but Blom was out ahead with a set holding the . The triumvirate opted to run it twice, and the turn on the first run gave Cates the best flush. Unfortunately for him, it was followed by the river, which paired the board and gave Blom half the $55,510.86 pot with a aces full.
Neither the turn nor river on the second run changed a thing, and Blom was also awarded the second half of the pot.
