2014 ACOP Main Event Day 4: Desperate dash to the overall table

It's hard to mention what day of a poker tournament is essentially the most nerve-wracking.

Yesterday seemed quite stressful. There have been 62 players initially of the day and only 31 players were set to make the money of the 2014 ACOP Main Event.

The beginning of the day was perhaps relaxed, but then because the money bubble loomed you need to start feel the stress grow. That tension peaked during hand-for-hand play after which the pressure relaxed because the bubble burst.

By the time Day 3 was over, exactly seven players were eliminated within the money, leaving us with the 24 players who will now return for Day 4 to stand an entire set of latest challenges and a brand new more or less pressure.

Because, of course, there are just nine spots at the final table and yet all 24 are eager to survive in the course of the day and keep rising up those pay jumps and ultimately keep themselves in contention for the HK$6,300,000 (~US$815,000) top prize.

One player who's arguably the most productive pressed to do exactly that may be chip leader Yaxi "Yvonne" Zhu.

It was an enormous Day 3 for Zhu as she became the primary player over seven-figures in chips and ultimately capped off the day by eliminating Mike "Timex" McDonald to complete up with 1,019,000.

Zhu is considered one of two ladies left within the field, with the opposite Team PokerStars Pro Celina Lin.

Making it deep in a poker tournament at PokerStars LIVE Macau is correct in Lin's comfort zone. She has done it such a lot of times before and is the one two-time Macau Poker Cup Red Dragon champion. A LARGE lead to the ACOP, however, has eluded Lin to this point and he or she might be seeking to change that.

Like usual, the women are certainly well represented here in Macau with Lin and Zhu, but they're faced with stiff competition from some very prominent players of the other sex.

There are big-name internationals like Sorel Mizzi, Terrence Chan, Byron Kaverman, Ami Barer, Dimitar Danchev and Joseph Cheong still alive and searching to take the title out of Macau.

There also are well-known locals joining the internationals within the quest for victory corresponding to Raidan Kan, Kai Yat Fam, Zuo 'ST' Wang and Sunny Jung.

If the name Sunny Jung sounds familiar that's because he was here before and in reality went directly to win the 2013 ACOP Main Event for an excessively large score of greater than half 1,000,000 US dollars.

There isn't any doubt that making the general table goes to be a hotly contested affair. It is going to take quite a very long time too, with players having a large average stack and levels lasting 90 minutes each.

You might be capable of finding full live reports, results and have coverage here at the 2014 ACOP page on the PokerStarsBlog, so stay tuned and discover who makes the general table!
