Igor Saia takes first IPT title in Nova Gorica

Italian player Igor Saia defeated a field of 333 players in Nova Gorica last month to win the most recent main event at the Italian Poker Tour.

The event, with a buy-in of €1,000+€100, generated a prize pool of €323,010 from which Saia took a primary prize of €70,000 along side an IPT Trophy.

Saia bettered tough opposition heads-up within the shape of WSOP bracelet winner Davide Suriano. At the last hand of the tournament Suriano moved all in with ace-three off-suit which finished a way behind Sais's pocket sevens. Suriano collected €40,000 for second place.

It's a primary major title for Saia, 30, who's a typical at the IPT. Referred to as "Smagics-84" online, Saia first cashed at the tour back in 2012. He had three cashes previous to this latest win. This latest result subsequently swelled his live tournament career earnings to greater than $100,000.

The full results of the all-Italian final table is below:

1. Igor Saia €70,0002. Davide Suriano €40,0003. Emanuele Buracchi €30,0004. Luca Pazzaglini €23,0005. Andrea Cortellazzi €17,5006. Constantin Erhan €13,0007. Nicola Loperfido €10,0008. Roberto Zanellato €7,800

In other events in Nova Gorica the sixth stop of the Mini IPT Season 6 registered a field of 369 players combining for a €107,379 prize pool. Nardi Petrokosta took home the €21,000 first prize and trophy after an extended and challenging heads-up duel against Italian player Micky Blasi who took home €13,000 as runner-up.

The next stop of the IPT could be in Sanremo from November 27 to December 1. Will probably be the seventh and last stop of Season 6 and the fourth consecutive event with a €990 buy-in and freeze-out format.

The "Mini IPT" will again be incorporated in to the principle festival schedule, with a €300 + €30 Single re-entry format with three start days.
